WASSCE 2016 Candidate With Exceptional Result Earns Scholarship Up to Ph.D Level



17 year old Miss Faizal Abu bakar Sani, a former student of Olumawu School, Abuja, has been awarded scholarship by the Kano State Government to study in any university of her choice in the world and to any level she wants following her exceptional performance at the 2016 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

It was learnt that she had A1 in English Language, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computer Studies, Civic Education and Marketing.

The result has been adjudged as the best ever in the state by the Kano state government (Miss Faizal's state of origin).

During interaction with newsmen, the young lady said she has already been offered admission to study Medicine in about 7 Universities in the United Kingdom and one other University in Egypt.

When asked about her reading habit, Faizal who scored 226 in the last JAMB said said she does not have a specific study hour because most times she studies until she gets tired or fall asleep.

On her part, Mrs. Hadiza Abubakar, Faizal’s mother, a lawyer, described her daughter as a quiet, reserved and responsible girl who has shown intelligence right from her birth.

KWASU Supplementary Admission Screening Exercise 2016/2017 Announced

 
 
This is to invite all UTME/DE candidates in the underlisted categories to apply for the supplementary Post-UTME Screening/Test for 2016/2017 admission exercise:

a. Those interested in admission into KWASU but did not take part in the first screening exercise; and
b. Those who took part in the first screening exercise but scored below 40%.

All candidates must have five (5) O’ Level credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings. Candidates awaiting O’Level results can also apply for the Post-UTME Screening Test but will not be considered for admission until their results are available.

The screening/test is scheduled to hold as follows:
Date: Monday 26th September – Thursday 30th September, 2016.
Venue: KWASU Sango Office, Ilorin
Time: 9.00am – 4.00pm daily.

Candidates are advised to adhere strictly to the time scheduled for their Post-UTME Screening/Test. They are also required to come along to the screening/test venue with unused scratch card(s) for their O’level results, JAMB Original result print-outs of their Post-UTME registration forms and receipt for payment for screening.

2. REGISTRATION FEES: Applicants, except those who had taken part in the initial Post-UTME Screening for 2016/2017 admission exercise are required to pay the sum of Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) only (i.e. Two Thousand Naira (^2,000.00) as Post-UTME Screening fee and One Thousand Naira (^1,000.00) as administrative charge).

3. ONLINE REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS
►From KWASU undergraduate portal home page (http://www.kwasu.edu.ng/portal), click "POST-UTME CANDIDATES" menu.
►Click "Registration Form" link
►Enter your details in the spaces provided and click "Continue" button to generate the payment breakdown. NOTE that if you have already attempted to make payment, this section will notify you of the status of such payment.
►Check the payment details generated and click "Make Payment" button. Do not click the button twice.
►On the payment platform displayed, enter your card details and click the "Pay" button.
►Once your payment is successful, you will be directed to your registration portal where you can complete other stages.
►You are to bring these documents to the screening center along with your JAMB results, O’level results and other important documents. NOTE that if you have successfully paid, and wish to continue your registration stages later, you can use the "Login" link under "POST-UTME CANDIDATES" menu to access your registration portal.

In addition to all the requirements stated above, all applicants must know that final admission into the University is based on meeting the cut-off points for the
University and the Academic Programme in both UTME and POST-UTME examinations and O level results, when they are set and also on the availability of spaces within the NUC approved admission quota for KWASU.

FUNAAB Resumption of Academic Activities And Instructions To Students

 
 
Senate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta at its Special Meeting held on Tuesday, 20th September, 2016, considered the report of the Committee on Students’ Unrest of Thursday, 18th August, 2016 and took the following decisions:

Resumption date for the Students
Senate approved Monday, 3rd October, 2016 as the resumption date for the students following the closure arising from the Unrest.

Arrangement for Security - Facilitation of the establishment of a Police Station in the Communities opposite the University Campus by the University Administration

Senate approved facilitation of the establishment of a Police Station in the Communities opposite the University Campus by the University Administration.

Payment of Claims to People whose Properties were damaged as a result of the Students’ Unrest.
Senate approved payment of claims made by claimants arising from the damages to properties during the Students’ Unrest.

Formulation of Off-Campus Policy for Students Residing Out-Side the University Campus
Senate approved the constitution of an Ad-hoc Committee on the formulation of Off-Campus Policy for Students residing out-side the University Campus. Senate noted that the off-Campus Policy became necessary in view of the repeated cases of thefts and robberies being experienced by some of the off-campus Students, especially in the Communities adjoining the campus.

Payment of the sum of Five Thousand Naira per Student as Reparation Fee
Senate approved the payment of the sum of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00),(inclusive of REMITA charges) per student as reparation fee.
Senate also directed that in addition to the payment, students should present letter of undertaking to be of good conduct from their parents and affidavit from the Court of law. Deadline for compliance is 4th October, 2016.

Procedure for Payment
-Students should make payment into the University REMITA Account using the following guidelines:
-Visit the student portal: portal.unaab.edu.ng and click on Reparation Fee
-Create and print the “September 2016 Student Unrest Reparation Fee Invoice”
-Pay the fee online via debit card; internet banking or through any bank accepting REMITA Payment
-Return to student portal: portal.unaab.edu.ng and click on “Print Receipt”
Input your Invoice Number and Print your Receipt
Take the receipt to your Head of Department for clearance.

N. B: The University Portal will be open for payment on Monday, 26th of September, 2016

JAMB To Stop The Use Of Scratch Cards For Registration And Result Checking



Report has it that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will soon stop the use of scratch cards for registration and checking of results.

This was disclosed JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyode on Tuesday at the National Executive Council meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) in Abuja.

According to him this will likely become effective from 2017.

He added that once this becomes effective, students would generate a PIN number for themselves from their phone or computers before registering for examinations.

He frowned at situations whereby banks and vendors hoard the cards, only to sell them at a higher price.

He equally charged NASU members to involve in the ownership of Computer-Based Testing Centres, saying those who own the centres are businessmen merely exploiting students.

UNIPORT Deadline For Payment Of Fees, Completion of UGC Form And Course Registration



This is to inform students of the University of Port-harcourt (UNIPORT) that the University Management has directed as follows;

1.Payment of School Charges ends Tuesday, 27th September, 2016

2.Payment of Surcharge of N5,000.00 (five thousand naira only) per student ends Tuesday, 27th September, 2016

3.Completion of Undertaking of Good Conduct Form ends Tuesday, 4th October, 2016

4.Course Registration ends Tuesday, 4th October, 2016
Students who are yet to complete the above processes are advised to comply before the deadline, as there will be no further extension of time.

The list of duly registered Students (who should also be on clear standing with regard to S/Nos (1), (2) and (3) above), will be displayed in the respective Departments and on the University Website on Tuesday, 18th October, 2016.

UNN Newly Admitted Students Should Read This Before Resumption




It is true that UNN has officially published her first list. the primary list which can also be called Merit Admission list accommodated over 3000 prospective students. In view of this, students are expected to return to the campus shortly.

Congratulations to those who made the prestigious Merit list.

There are few thing you should know as a prospective student. make sure you check the school website @www.unn.edu.ng from day to day to get first hand information.

When resuming, ensure to return with all supporting documents for your registration such as your jamb result slip, WAEC result, PUTME registration slip, date of birth certificate, Local government certification, letter of attestation passports e.t.c

Also, note that university does not have enough accommodation to contain her students. In this regard, hostel allocation is on first come first serve basis with allocation percentage to students at different levels in the institution.

So, if you want to secure accommodation in the hostel, you have to endeavor to pay your school fees on time as hostel accommodations are allocated to those who have successfully paid their school fees and obtain the university email address.

For those who did not make it into the primary list, with all hopes, be vigilant as the school will soon publish advert for shooping form which successful candidates will be enlist in the supplementary lsit.

FG Declares September 12th And 13th As Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12 and Sept.13 as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir.

This was made known by the Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, in a statement signed by the acting Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Muhammadu Maccido.

He called on all Muslims and Nigerians in general to support the current administration in its effort to stabilize the economy.

NYSC Notice To 2016 Prospective Batch B Corps Members



The attention of the Management of the National Youth Service Corps has been drawn to information circulating in the internet directing prospective corps members to commence online registration for the 2016, Batch 'B' orientation course on 8th September, 2016.

Management wishes to inform all prospective corps members, parents, guardians and the general public, that no date has yet been fixed for the 2016 Batch 'B' orientation course.
The information did not emanate from the NYSC website, but the handiwork of scammers, whose intention is most likely to defraud unsuspecting prospective corps members and the general public.

As soon as Management comes up with the date for the forthcoming orientation course, this would be made known to all those concerned through our normal channels of communication.

UI Admission Screening 2016: Eligibility And Registration Details





The University of Ibadan, Ibadan, hereby requests all candidates who made the University their most preferred Institution of choice and scored 200 or above in the 2016 UTME to submit their bio-data and WAEC/NECO SSCE O’L Results ONLINE through http://www.admissions.ui.edu.ng from Monday, 05 September to Friday, 23 September, 2016. A scanned copy of the result should also be uploaded.

Candidates should note that any results not released before 23 September, 2016 will not be considered for the 2016/2017 Admissions Exercise.

Instructions:-

(i) Candidates should ensure that the on-line forms are carefully filled, following ALL necessary instructions, as "mistake(s)" may lead to disqualification.

(ii) Candidates can return to the portal, up till 23 September 2016 to edit/complete their previous entries or otherwise review and print their submissions. Please ensure that you click "FINAL SUBMISSION" before printing. Candidates should note that no further editing CAN be done after final submissions.

(iii) Candidates are advised to use functional e-mail addresses and telephone numbers to enable the University reach them in the course of the Admission exercise or whenever the need arises.

(iv) Candidates are expected to upload their passport photographs and signatures. The image format for the passport and signature is JPEG and must not exceed the specification. The photographs must be on white background without glasses, cap or headgear.

(v) An online help desk platform on http://www.admissions.ui.edu.ng/helpdesk will be available to handle all genuine enquiries.

Candidates should please note that it is only when an 'O' level result is deficient for a course of choice that another result may be presented to complement. Candidates presenting two 'O' level results (6 credits at 2 Sittings) should ensure that the comprehensive details of both results are submitted.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND FACULTY OF PHARMACY ACCEPT 5 CREDITS AT 1 SITTING ONLY.

The deadline for submission of bio-data / 'O' level results may not be extended. Any candidate whose data is not submitted within the stipulated time may not be considered for the Pre-Admission Screening exercise and for admission.

Misrepresentation/falsification of documents is a serious offence. Candidates are therefore advised to submit genuine documents only. Anyone found guilty of this offence will be disqtalifiEd automatically and in appropriate cases, be handed over to the Law Enforcement Agencies.

Candidates are requested to note that payment of the Admission Portal Access Fee of N2, 500.00 is for processing of each candidate’s application. This does not guarantee admission.

Candidates are strongly advised to adhere strictly to the guidelines stipulated above for successful completion of the online submissions.

UNILAG Postgraduate Entrance Examination Schedule 2016/2017

The Entrance/Qualifying Examinations of new postgraduate students of the University of Lagos for the 2016/2017 academic session will commence at the Distance Learning Institute and Multipurpose Halls A, B, C of UNILAG, from 9: 00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. daily.

Below is the schedule for the exercise which will commence from Saturday, September 17 to Saturday, September 24, 2016:

LASU Online Admission Screening Exercises for First Choice (More Preferred) and Second Choice (Preferred).


Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the Lagos State University 2016/2017 Admission Screening Exercise, for candidates seeking admission via UTME (100 level).

These ONLINE screening exercises are mandatory requirements for entry into Lagos State University.
There shall be two rounds of Online Admission Screening Exercises for First Choice (More Preferred) and Second Choice (Preferred).

The Online Admission Screening Exercise for the Second Choice (Preferred) candidates shall not take place until late September/October 2016 when the first round would have been concluded.

2. ELIGIBILITY FOR FIRST ROUND
i. Candidates who have chosen Lagos State University as their First Choice (More Preferred) institution in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), and have scored a minimum of 190 marks are eligible to participate in the First Online Admission Screening Exercise. In addition, candidates must be at least 16 years of age.

ii. ALL Direct Entry candidates who wish to be considered for admission into Lagos State University for the 2016/2017 academic session, who must have obtained Direct Entry Form from JAMB are also eligible and must apply for the screening exercise.

iii. Candidates of Lagos State Origin, for 100 & 200 levels will be required (if admitted) to prove their claims before the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (lIVC) set up by the Lagos State University.

iv. Candidates should note that ONLY the accredited courses listed below are available for the 2016/2017 Academic Session. Therefore, only candidates that have chosen any of the under listed courses should apply.

3.METHOD OF APPLICATION
A. ONLINE PAYMENT (FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR LASU ADMISSION SCREENING)
1. Prospective Candidates will visit screening.lasu.edu.ng and select MAKE PAYMENT option in the drop down list at the top, to make the required payment of N5,000 (Platform Access Fee N2,500, Screening fee N2,500) for the 2016/2017 LASU Admission Screening Exercise.

The prospective candidates would be required to submit the following:
-JAMB Registration Number
-Surname, First name, Middle name
-Email Address and telephone number (both must be active and personal to the applicant)

2. Click on PROCEED

3. On the next page, a TRANSACTION ID to be used for PAYMENT would be displayed. The candidate should copy this TRANSACTION ID and proceed for PAYMENT at http://www.quickteller.com/lasu

4. On http://www.quickteller.com/lasu page,
(i) Click on PAY
(ii) Enter your email address, GSM number.
(iii) Also enter the Transaction ID copied in step 3 above
(iv) Proceed to enter details of your ATM card
(v) Click Process payment
(vi) Print your Payment receipt from the screen. A transaction message will be sent to your email and GSM, hence the need to use your personal E-rnail address and GSM number.

B. ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR ALL FIRST CHOICE CANDIDATES
1. After successful payment for LASU 2016/2017 Online Admission screening exercise, return to screening.lasu.edu.ng and select CONTINUE REGISTRATION option in the drop down list at the top.

2. Prospective candidates should enter the required details (JAMB Registration number, surname and Mode of Entry - UME or DE).

3. Click on PROCEED button to load/update the Registration Form.
Each applicant is expected to complete/update the registration form by providing the following information.
Candidates will be required to upload a scanned copy of their passport size photograph (File Size: Not more than 20KB; File format: JPEG [i.e. ‘jpg’]). Application for change of passport photograph by candidates given provisional admission shall NOT be allowed. This same passport photograph, uploaded by such candidates, will be used on their degree certificates.
ONLY TWO CHOICES OF COURSE OF STUDY ARE ALLOWED

Carefully study the agreement form. If you agree to the stated terms, click on the 'I agree’ button on the left-hand side of the page.

Note: If you do not agree to the stated terms you will not be permitted to go beyond this point. Please read and understand the terms before registering/updating.

Fill in all required details contained on the online registration form. Confirm THAT DETAILS ARE ACCURATE then click FINISH. To make changes, before you click finish, you may click on the Edit button.

Candidates must possess five (5) O' Level credits in subjects relevant to their desired course of study at not more than two sittings, except Medicine that requires ONLY 1 sitting.

Credit in English Language is compulsory for admission into all courses in Lagos State University.
Candidates awaiting the result of NABTEB, NECO (June/July) 2016, are eligible to apply. Note that any examination taken after July 2016 shall not be accepted.

Make sure you print your Registration Form/Slip as this serves as your entry ticket into the screening hall.

C. ONLINE SCREENING FOR ALL FIRST CHOICE CANDIDATES
The Screening of Candidate(s) will be based on Point Grading System using the UTME Score and SSCE (or equivalent) Grades in five BEST RELEVANT subjects to Candidates Choice of Course.

The relevant subjects are obtainable from JAMB brochure 2016 available online

Candidates are advised to study the O\Level subject requirements for their Course of choice before participating in the online Admission Screening.

In the Screening step, Candidates are expected to fill-in ONLY FIVE (5) BEST RELEVANT subjects as contained in JAMB Brochure 2016 online.

The Point grading system is as follows:
